TABERG, N.Y. -- State police are investigating whether a meth lab started a fire in a Taberg townhouse complex.

Officers were executing a grand larceny warrant for Jarrott Marino at the Pond Hill Town Houses, when a fire broke out in his residence. Marino at first refused to come to the door, but was eventually taken into custody by police and the fire was controlled quickly.

Troopers say at this point they can't confirm whether a meth lab was set up in the apartment.

A special team is working to secure the residence and officers will be at the site overnight to make sure it stays secure.

Police don't believe there is any further danger to other residents at this time. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
