UTICA, N.Y. -- The trial for a man accused of raping and murdering a woman then dumping her body in the woods began in Oneida County Court Monday.

Craig Ingersoll allegedly killed Jennifer Bennett, 29, in January of 2007. Her body was later found behind the Deerfield Fire Department, but her killer went unidentified for years.

Prosecutors told the jury during opening statements that DNA from a single hair on her back eventually led them to Ingersoll. They say he even confessed to police, but the defense says common sense would rule Ingersoll out.

Witness testimony is set to begin on Wednesday morning.
