ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Syracuse Academy of Science Charter School will have a partner program in Utica.
The State Board of Regents approved a charter for the Utica Academy of Science this week.
The new charter school will be located in the City School District and will serve grades six through 12.
The school will provide opportunities for students to gain math, science and technology skills.
Officials plan to have it up and running by August and at full capacity by 2018.
The Syracuse Academy of Science was opened in 2003 and by 2010, had more than 300 students.
