BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- A project in the City of Binghamton that was delayed due to last year's flood is back underway.

Organizers of The Design Your Own Park Project announced Monday that construction of the pavilion at Sunflower Park is set to begin this week. The project, which should only take a few weeks to complete, will put the finishing touch on the park that was created from an abandoned space within the city.

The Design Your Own Park Project hopes that renovations like this will renew empty spaces within the city, give kids a positive atmosphere to play in, all while bringing people together.

"Getting people involved and doing a lot of good work for all the kids and neighbors here as well," said Tony Everlin, Design Your Own Park Steering Committee Member.

The Design Your Own Park Project is a collaboration between the City of Binghamton, the Binghamton Neighborhood Project and the United Way of Broome County.
