JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- A manager of a Jefferson Community College Campus Book Store is accused of stealing thousands of dollars through fake textbook buy-backs. Officials from the not-for-profit organization that owns the store say Nancy Lear used the buy-back system to return more than $50,000 worth of textbooks. But, police say those text books didn't exist, and she instead ended up keeping the cash for herself.
It allegedly happened between April and November of this year, but the mismatch in numbers was discovered just a week and a half ago.
Lear was fired on Monday. She is charged with grand larceny and falsifying business records, both felonies.
