NEWTOWN, Conn. -- As funeral services continue this week for the shooting victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School, students of the school will not return to class today as originally planned. The Newtown, Connecticut school superintendent says students will resume classes after the holidays, at a vacant middle school building about eight miles away in the neighboring town of Monroe.

20 children and six school teachers and administrators were killed last Friday when a gunman broke into the school and began firing.

Two of the first graders were laid to rest on Tuesday, James Mattioli and Jessica Rekos.

High school students returned to school Tuesday. The Sandy Hook Elementary building is closed indefinitely while the investigation continues.

The National Rifle Association says they're planning to hold a press conference on Friday to discuss the shooting. The nation's largest gun rights organization has been criticized over the past several days for being quiet in the days following the shooting. Organization leaders say they were quiet out of respect for the victims.
