The holiday over-indulging is almost over and a new year is about to begin. Of course, that has many of you wanting to shed some pounds. Our Katie Husband has some tips on how you can get fit and keep that motivation throughout the year.
CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- "Oh God, I just can't wait to get here because it makes me feel so good during the day," said A.J. Troccia, Grand Central Fitness manager.
Is that how you want to feel this coming year?
"It's up to you, it's the difference you make, the changes that you see," said Stefani Bjorcke, gym member.
"Make that commitment to yourself not just to see the numbers on the scale, but just to live a healthier lifestyle," said Annette Ajamian, gym member.
So here are some things to get you started off on the right foot in 2013.
"First thing that they need to do is pick a gym that fits their needs. Depending on the situation, if they're married and have children, then a childcare," said Troccia.
"They need to eat well. They need to stay away from fast food, processed food and have a commitment to come in pretty much if they can on a daily basis," said Troccia.
When you start a new workout you want to do at least 15 minutes of cardio, but of course, that time depends on the individual. And then you want to move into circuit training to work on your strength.
"And we have circuits where you'll work each body part and work through a circuit and we'll work with your progress until we feel that you should move on to free weights or hammer weights," said Troccia.
And if you make that commitment this New Year, you're almost guaranteed you won't regret it.
"It's better to come in even if you come in for 30 minutes than not come in at all. And what's really neat about the whole process is, is when you start to see the results and then it just expands your vigor to continue to do that and move on and it's like an addiction," said Troccia.
