SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A growing number of homebuyers across Central New York means the creation of 25 more jobs in the area.
First Niagara bank officially opened its new mortgage processing center in downtown Syracuse Thursday. Customers, employees and community leaders gathered at the new facility to celebrate the grand opening.
Bank executives say with an increase in the number of mortgage applications in the area, they needed this facility to help serve the local customers more efficiently.
“I think it's an illustration of our continued investment in both Central New York and our commitment to the revitalization of downtown Syracuse. We are a major employer here in Onondaga County and across the Central New York area and we saw this as a great opportunity to continue to make investment in this area," said David Kavney, First Niagara Market Executive.
At the grand opening, First Niagara presented a $1,000 grant to Home Headquarters, a not-for-profit that helps create housing for Central and Northern New York residents.
