ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Congressional candidate Martha Robertson is calling out Congressman Tom Reed for his support of the 'Ryan Budget.'
The legislation is supported by Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan and the Republican majority.
Robertson calls it the 'Ryan-Reed budget' and she says it will cut Medicare into a voucher program and cut taxes for millionaires.
Robertson says it would be devastating to senior citizens and middle class families.
Martha Robertson, (D) Congressional Candidate 23rd District said, "I'd like to see the taxes, the burden being shared by people across the income spectrum. I think we have to cut wasteful spending but we also have to invest on the things that create jobs and grow our economy, we have to create an infrastructure program."
Reed responded saying he cares about the financial wellbeing of families.
In a statement his office says, "It's no secret that our country spends more than we take in, and a vote to grow our economy, balance the budget and address growing concerns over entitlement programs is a step in the right direction. Martha Robertson supports a budget that raises taxes by one and a half trillion dollars and increases spending by nearly two and a half trillion dollars."
Robertson and Reed face off in this year's election.
