SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The most talked-about pitcher in minor league baseball is getting ready to make his debut with the Syracuse Chiefs.

Former number one pick Stephen Strasburg was called up to the AAA affiliate Tuesday, and made the drive from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Syracuse on Wednesday.

Strasburg says he doesn't know much about the area other than SU Basketball, but he's excited to pitch here.

As for the national media that follows him everywhere he goes, the 21-year old says he's starting to get used to it.

"Just remember what's important, you know. I love playing this game, and I played this game my entire life, and it's still the same game out there. Reporter: Is it really the same? Absolutely, it's 60 feet six inches from home plate to the pitching mound and 90 feet down the lines, same thing,” said Stephen Strasburg, Syracuse Chiefs pitcher.

"The ticket office is non-stop, people on the phones wanting their suites, may be people who weren't going to use their suites Friday are now using them, so yeah, there's a buzz, not only in our office, but in the community. He's big; he's bigger than anything Syracuse has ever had, so it's great to have him here,” said John Simone, Chiefs General Manager.

Right now there are still tickets left to Friday's game, but it is expected to sell out. As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, about 9,500 tickets had already been sold.

Time Warner Cable Sports will be carrying the Chiefs game live Friday evening. Coverage starts at 7 p.m. with the first pitch shortly after that.

Because there has been so much buzz about the game, the broadcast will include a little extra for fans who can't go out and watch in person.

"In addition to being the Syracuse Chiefs telecast, this is going to be the Stephen Strasburg show on Time Warner Cable Sports. We'll take the air at 7 p.m., have a pregame feature with the fire balling pitcher, and then we'll listen to comments from Strasburg throughout the game as he pitches in a Chiefs uniform,” said Doug Logan, TWCS General Manager.

The game will also be fed to the MLB Network for Washington Nationals fans can watch Strasburg pitch as well.
